Re: Yikes!!!

Oooh, when I was at college I'd often find bags of carrot slime in the back of my food cupboard. I'd buy a couple with the good intentions of getting at least one of my five a day then forget about them! They reduce to gooey mucous slime after a few weeks/months at room temperature - I'd recom...

Re: Coconut Oil

I recently bought 3 jars from Amazon. No idea how it compares pricewise with other places though. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0062Y7RTU/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have tried cooking with it but it tastes strongly of sweet coconut and doesn't add anything to most dishes I cook...

Re: Insect bites

Hi Anne. Yes you're right there were a couple of posts about savlon. I've got a memory like a sieve! Luckily I haven't put any on. I found the tube of fuciderm she was prescribed for her neck and have applied this a few times which seems to have done the trick. :D I think Savlon is still ok if...

Re: Indestructible water toy?

We have recently bought a couple of chuckit ball throwers and I bought their floating alligator ball for our trip to the Lakes. It was fab, floated really well and stood up to 2 doods fighting over it. They are expensive but I've found all their products to be brilliant. I have the extra long ...

Insect bites

Poppy got bitten at the weekend by (what I think was) a mosquito. She had 3 or 4 bumps on her inner thigh where her fur is thinner. I noticed a couple of days ago that the area was inflamed. I'm guessing she has been scratching them. Whilst they haven't got really bad they aren't clearing up either ...

First swim!

We are on holiday in the Lakes at the moment. It has been a glorious day today and hubby and the boys have been out on the lake in the kayak. I have been throwing a ball in the water for the dogs and encouraged by the boys in the kayak they both swam for the first time. :D They have never been brave...

Re: Are More Than having a laugh?

Hi Shiv, A lifetime policy means that if your pup develops a condition it will be covered for the amount insured every year ongoing. So for example your £5000 pot would renew each year. As others have said, once your pup has a condition it is impossible to move insurers as they will not cover it. In...

Re: What do you feed your doodle?

I used to feed Poppy Eden. In fact I changed her to it from the a Royal Canin the breeder had her on. It gets great reviews but for Poppy it was too rich and caused soft stools and wind! I suspect that that it was the very high protein content that caused it. :) I considered Orijen but didn't ...

Re: Son not Doodle related. It's a rant avoid if you wish!

Hi Jay, what an awful thing to happen to your son and I can only imagine the hurt you must feel on his behalf. :( Please encourage your OH to write his letter ASAP, whilst the emotions are still there. The Head Teacher will be in school at some point next week I would imagine so hopefully you will g...

Re: Did I do wrong?

Thank you everyone. :) I am feeling so much better this evening, even more so having taken a phonecall from the old lady's neighbour to say that she is home and doing really well. :D I will pay her a visit early next week with some flowers once she is settled back in. :D I now know I did the right t...

Walking two dogs together

I walk Poppy and Rosie together once a day for 10 minutes or so until I reach the local playing field when they go off lead. Individually they usually walk pretty well on their collar but when together it is a completely different story! The race starts the minute we leave the house and doesn...

Re: Did I do wrong?

To be fair, the GP did leave a practice nurse with us, who checked her pulse every 10 minutes or so (wearing her gloves of course!) A passerby had wipes in their car which they gave me to clean up my hands once the bleeding had stopped. The GP only seemed to have gloves with him, no first aid kit? :...
