Scarlet
Our beautiful girl has crossed over the bridge. No words can come close to expressing how much she meant to us. There is a huge hole in our hearts and our home that can never be filled. There has been no day during the past 10.5 years that Scarlet has not made us laugh. She was our best friend and w...

Re: Vectra 3D
The main ingredient in Vectra is Permethrin which is the same ingredient as in Advantix. It doesn't contain Imidacloprid which is the common ingredient in both Advantix and Advantage. It does, however, contain another ingredient, Dinotefuran, which is also a neonicotinoid (the same class of drug as ...

Re: More Seizures
Hi again. Sorry I don't know what meds Murphy is on but thought you may find our kennel experience useful. With our epileptic dogs we find sometimes when they have a number of fits in a short period of time at this time of year 'fiddling' with their meds rather than increasing their dose sometimes h...

Re: More Seizures
Sorry to hear Murphy has had more seizures. I can't help with the Billy no mates question but I just wanted to say that at this time of year, when the day light hours are short, it is very common to notice more seizures in epileptic dogs (and people) due to the decrease in serotonin levels. We certa...

Re: Fleas
Stronghold is made of a drug called Selamectin. Advantage is made from a mixture of imidacloprid and moxidectin (this drug is from the same family as selamectin). Advantix is made from imidacloprid and permethrin. As Murphy reacts to both Advantix and Advocate it suggests he is sensitive to imidaclo...

It seems to me if i had a grown female Labrador for example, there is absolutely nothing stopping me going out buying a couple of Labradoodle puppies for 400 pound, bringing them home and selling them as my own dogs offspring for 800 pound :? now back when a Lab/Poodle was a 50 pound mongrel that was...

Could you possibly arrange to walk her with another owner and dog? This is always the method I use for encouraging reluctant dogs, sometimes they just need someone who speaks their own language to show them how it's done.

Re: Could it be a phantom pregnancy
Hi, yes it does sound like it. How long is it since her season? It may be worth a quick trip to the vet to confirm. Sometimes a phantom pregnancy passes off without problems but sometimes the bitch can produce an awful lot of milk and develop mastitis and there is also a slightly increased risk of p...

Re: Siblings!
Well as you know I have Harriet and Sach who are brother and sister. I would defy anyone to guess that though as they are totally different, Harry is a petite poodly girl, a bit highly strung and giddy as a kipper whereas Sach is a giant, long legged Labrador with a beard and a quiff, steady as a ro...

Re: The perils of grass seeds!
I recently removed a similar seed from the ear hole of my local farmer. Thank goodness for the practice I have had removing them from various doggy ears, paws, noses and other holes over the years  Have to say my friend the farmer was in a lot of pain and made almost as much fuss as Scrumpy doe...

Re: What do you feed?
Mine eat a mostly raw diet lovingly minced, chopped and bagged by me. The contents vary depending on the time of year and what the humans are buying or not at the particular time as their minces and bones are leftovers from my local butcher. They also eat eggs 2x per week from the farm where I work ...

Re: Urine odours
Yep I'm a biological washing powder/liquid user as well - any of them seem to work, I just get the cheapest on offer. It works so well I managed to convert my sis and my mum to it (they are both slightly ott on the cleaning front to put it politely  so if it satisfies them it must work  ).
