Re: Reggie - labradoodle in rescue

Hi Anne,
We posted at the same time.
Yes, Reggie has gone - but there are some other gorgeous dogs there still ... those of you who like their doggies a little bit scruffy ... have a look at Millie :)

Re: Recall - About turn walk - anyone used this sort of met

Thanks very much for all your comments. Always useful to get others' experiences! It's a work in progress of course, but I do think the "About turn" walk is helping us quite a bit. Re. chasing: deer has not happened yet, but would be a total Fenton style nightmare, I have no doubt. Rabbits has happe...

Recall - About turn walk - anyone used this sort of method?

I've been trying this "About turn walk" technique for improving recall with Charlie (who's nearly one year old). http://www.dogparliament.com/index.php?page=the-about-turn-walk Early days but I think (or is that hope) it might be helping. Does it sound sensible to any of you more experienced doodle ...

Good dog trainers on youtube

Do any of you have any recommendations for dog trainers on youtube or elsewhere on the Internet? We went to puppy classes when Charlie was new but he definitely needs more obedience training and there aren't any convenient classes here now. I've looked on youtube but there are so many trainers on th...

Re: Had to laugh

Murphy doesn't look like a typical labradoodle but he is a very beautiful dog.

Re: Reeling him in when he barks

You are right Liz, it would seem much easier to go out and get him (and safer). That is what I tried to do for a good long while but I found that as soon as I stepped outside Charlie would stop barking - so the barking had worked as far as he was concerned. Other times he was in a strange defiant "b...

Re: Shocking recall

No useful advice - but just wanted to say that you are not alone. I am having exactly the same problems with Charlie (10 months). I followed the advice in the "Totall Recall" book and he used to come back to a dog whistle every time. Then one day he discovered the joys of rabbits on the golf course....

Re: Reeling him in when he barks

You are right to be worried about the tangling, Jo. It is a real danger I think. Charlie got tangled up several times yesterday in the bushes. Luckily he just stood still and waited for me to come and untangle him. You definitely could not leave Bonny on a long line unsupervised. However, I am cauti...

My husband is losing his hair.

Maybe I'll get one done for him as a momento.

Reeling him in when he barks

I'm trying to stop Charlie (10 months old) barking in the garden whenever somebody dares to laugh / sneeze / whisper / tweet in any of the surrounding gardens / trees. Now it's spring, I have the door open when I'm working at the computer and Charlie potters in and out mooching around. So following ...
