Re: Update on Douglas
Lovely to hear he's making steady progress, with all your help and love. Our cat who had a spinal injury always walked like she'd been drinking afterwards and couldn't jump up anymore. She still had a good life and worked around it. Never worked out how she managed to get up on the bench, but she di...

Re: Devon Doodle Dash (Diehards included)
Hoping to get to the meet. Travelling down to near Tavistock that day, so if we can get our act together in the morning, we could come for a splash on the way down! We've not managed to be in Devon at the right time before. Here's hoping we can get out of bed and get the car packed.... Lesly and the...

Pleased to hear you have him back. Everything crossed for no more events. Positive thoughts that physio will make a real difference. When we were doing the physio on Rio, our vet said that, daft as it sounds, sometimes you have to remind them that they have a leg that they can use, as after an injur...

Re: Food after severe diarrhea
Hello. When Molly had a poorly tum with small amount of blood we also used scrambled egg and white fish (freezer cabinet in the supermarket) and she was fine with those too. Hope Cocoa gets better quickly. Really scary when there's blood. Gave me a fright and it wasn't on that big a scale. Lesly, Mo...

Re: Honey?
Both of mine had honey when they were puppies. The breeder we got them from insisted that anyone getting one of her puppies attended a talk by a trainer from Canine Partners. Her advice for helping with settling in a puppy at night was to use one of bones from PAH (with the paste inside). Take the p...

Re: Spinal stroke
Sorry to hear about Douglas. I don't have experience of this in dogs but we had a cat who suffered a spinal injury. We don't know how it happened but she dragged herself home with her front paws. All I can say that might be of use is that having read lots and lots of websites and forums, I found tha...

Should have said - cats clip Rosa around the head, not us!!! Just watch they don't go too far. We always supervised when they were puppies.

Hello Manasmum, it's still very early days. She is still adapting to your house and you to her. It is a bit overwhelming when you first have them. They are all different for wees timing. We were given the advice to write it down wees/poos each time and food/sleeps. It is time consuming and makes you...

Re: Garden risks!
Hello. There are other much more experienced dog owners on here that will have good advice. My limited experience with my two is that as long as they are not eating anything toxic, then the odd bit of stuff won't matter. Molly spent much of her puppyhood eating bamboo shoots and roots. I had to chec...

Re: poor cat
If it's just when he's eating, would you be able to put something between them (puppy pen?) when he eats? It's hard when you love them both. We had an old disabled cat (spinal injury, we got her walking again, but she was a bit wonky), but she was so fierce, the dogs learnt as puppies to keep clear!...

I never understand how people can treat animals like that. I always had pets as a child and my girls have always had them. Our house is a bit like a petting zoo, but I have taught them that if you take on a responsibility, you've taken it on and you don't get rid of them just because it's hard work....

Re: HELP! profusely bleeding nail quick.
Easy to do, even when being careful. We did the same with Molly and scared ourselves! They really do bleed! Molly got the leftover chicken from the fridge whilst we got her to lie still and let the bleeding stop. That's it, now, we've lost our nerve and yesterday, both of them went to the vets for a...

Re: Skin complaint
Could it be an allergy to washing powder? We had a similar thing with Molly when she started to lose fur on parts of her, with no reason we could find. We tried changing the washing powder and discovered that there is one brand we can't use (Persil). Once we changed it, the fur grew back and she has...

Molly likes to sit on the bench. Even better if a cat or person will sit with her. Rosa is not the sitting type!
