Re: Fear becomes reality.

So sorry to read this, it is so awful when something like it happens :( Glad to hear he's feeling better now. It sounds silly but there are a few aggressive dogs around where we live so I always make sure to have a full bottle of water in my hand when walking Henry. A few times when dogs have gone f...

Re: Three years today

She's such a beautiful girl! My old dog (collie x lab) also jumped up a lot, we used The Dog Listener by Jan Fennell after meeting her in a bookshop in Yorkshire. It worked well, the big takeaways were always ignoring him when we got home (so unpacking shopping, getting changed etc then saying hello...

Re: Raw question

Henry has natural instinct and loves it! His favourites are the turkey, salmon, beef and duck. We tend to buy him the chicken a lot too as its the cheapest!
He loves the frozen liver, duck necks and lamb spines Natural Instinct sell too. He's eaten it since a puppy and seems really healthy and happy!

Re: three meals down to two?

Henry has two to three meals depending on his choice. We put food in his bowl in the morning, throw a duck neck or lamb spine or put more food it at lunch time, then dinner in the evening. However, he often isn't interested so may eat breakfast for dinner, dinner for breakfast (meaning he'll have fi...

Re: Puppy eating his own poop!

We had exactly the same problem with Henry, it was a nightmare trying to fend him off while picking up the poo! Here's what we did: - Bought squeaky Kong balls to squeak and throw only when he had pooed (so it was a special treat) - Loudly congratulated Henry when he pooed to get his attention, then...

Re: Our New Doodlebug

Gorgeous!! Henry (touch unchewed wood..) has never been much of a nibbler. However, we used a crate when he was little so he couldn't get into any bad habits when we were away and are vigilant at watching him - there's one wooden table he's interested in but we distract him from every time. Best of ...

Re: hello from devon

Hello from Bristol! So sorry to hear you lost your dog, it is so heartbreaking when it happens. Puppies are definitely a wake up call, my Harry-Dog was 15 when he died last October and we took on Henry at 16 weeks in April - what a shock! They are lovely, challenging, tiring and joyous in all kinds ...

Re: Could use some advice from Labradoodle owners...

My partner and I lived in a top floor apartment (five flights of external stairs.. no garden) and we used Borrow My Doggy to find a local dog, who we walked a few times a week to get our doggy fix! We worked tirelessly to find a flat with a garden, less than 10 mins walk from my OH's work, close to ...

Re: Raw food book recommendation

Henry has Natural Instinct too, he isn't a big fan of the chicken but loves the meatier flavours mixed with a little Fish4Dogs kibble. He has vegetables too, a slice of sweet potato is his favourite! I don't know if you're a fan of podcasts, but I found this one http://fatburningman.com/george-bryan...

Re: New Puppy

Henry is a 'small medium' and he weighed about 5kg at 10 weeks, 10.55kg at 17 weeks. My book says they are about 80% of adult size at 20 weeks. Hope that helps and congratulations on your new arrival!

Henry is always up to some mischief :D His favourite trick is stealing one of my work shoes, then taking items of clothing off the clothes horse so I'm left wondering where one sock and my shoe has gone!

Re: help on settling a puppy in the car.

Henry is still learning to love the car but it gets better every time. He sits in the back, on towels, with his harness and strapped into the middle seat. The strap is loose enough so he can lie down/move about but tight enough so he doesn't get moved about too much when I have to emergency stop etc...

Thanks everyone, he is such a bundle of fun! He's already loving Ashton Court, can't wait for him to meet all the other Doodles there soon.

Re: New member

How exciting - the very best of luck! We picked up Henry at 16 weeks and it was quite a revelation (my last dog was about 7 months when he took him on). Puppies are gorgeous but definitely keep you busy  The best books I can recommend are: How to Train a Superpup by Gwen Bailey (our breeder re...

Re: Allergies

Fingers crossed it is a food allergy as there are so many options out there if there's an ingredient he needs to avoid. An environmental allergy is not so easy (I'm a human with allergies to both and food wins every time!). Hope Murphy is feeling better soon. Henry loves to investigate my handbag, e...
