Update on Douglas
Hello all, It's been a while since I posted about Douglas, who is recovering from fibrocartilaginous embolism, otherwise known as fce or spinal stroke, which happened twice in May (or once, with a two week gap in between, still not sure). Well ....it's a long haul, with hydrotherapy, water treadmill...

Re: Update on Douglas
Hi, sorry we've been away to a place with hardly any signal. Liz asked with reference to spinal strokes or fibrocartilaginous embolism (fce): Did you think they think it is something labradoodles are prone to? I don't think so necessarily. What I've read indicates that they mostly seem to affect lar...

Update on Douglas
Hi everyone, I thought I'd give you an update about how Douglas is doing after his two spinal strokes, especially to those who were so kind in their comments and good wishes. Douglas has been home for three weeks now and his progress has been slow, but steady, which is why I haven't posted before no...

Douglas is home!!
Hello all, I am very pleased to report that Douglas came home from hospital today! YAY !!!!!! He seems very, very happy to be back with us, and has been lying very still in the way that kids do when they should be in bed, kind of 'if I keep very quiet they might not send me back'. It looks like it's...

Re: Spinal stroke
Thank you Glenda that's reassuring, I hope! We're still hoping to collect him tomorrow and take it from there. I guess the only difference is that Douglas is a rather big dog, so rather less transportable than your little guy, but we're getting everything ready and keeping fingers crossed.

Re: Spinal stroke
Hello again,
I'm very sorry to hear about Deano and Dudley, but at the same time relieved that they both made good recoveries. Glenda, were you given any idea about the chances of it happening for a third time?

Re: Spinal stroke
Thank you very much everyone for your kind messages. It's been horrible, and I keep wondering what poor Douglas must be thinking. Anyway, the latest news is that he is in good spirits, has perked up and is very bright in himself. Showing a lot of interest in tennis balls, apparently! His left side i...

Spinal stroke
Hello again, I haven't been on this site for ages. I used to come on as Poll J, but it wouldn't let me log on for some reason. We have Douglas, who is now five, six in September. He wasn't the easiest of puppies, so I came on here for a lot of really useful advice in the early days, but then just so...
