Re: IN A DILEMMA! PET INSURANCE! :-)
We have been with Morethan for the last few years who have recently introduced a compulsory 10% contribution towards the cost of all treament in addition to a £70 excess each year, once the dogs hit 9 years we will have to pay 20% towards treament costs. Unfortunately we are unable to switch compani...

Re: Beamish is home!!!!
Congratulations!! What a gorgeous boy Beamish is. I love his eyes, it's so unusual to see a black dog without the usual brown eyes, are they green? Hope you all have lots of fun together

Re: Off to North Yorkshire! Any tips for nice walks?
I don't know if you are staying anywhere near Goathland (AKA Aidensfield), there is a lovely walk following the North Yorks steam railway line from Goathland to Grosmont (or you can do it the other way round), it really is fab. When you reach Grosmont there is a nice little cafe/tea room which is do...

Re: Collar recommendations
Ditto above - Dublin Dog collars are brilliant, I use them for both my two and only ever change them for different designs, they never seem to wear out. They are so durable and easy to wash, I give them a quick wash with some fairy liquid and they really do look brand new. http://www.dog-online.co.u...

Re: Obedience classes in Billericay, Essex area
Hi We used recommend DTCE (link below), they are very good, they are based in Orsett, just off the Orsett Cock roundabout which isn't too far from Billericay. The trainers are all very knowledgeable, approachable and have always got time for you. We took both our dogs to the classes there for a long...

Re: Itching
I too use Piriton for my itchy girl and I get them from Reach Pharmacy without prescription, although you do have to fill in a simple form. A pot of 500 tablets (Piriton brand) costs £8.99. I think that the limit is two pots, I have just taken delivery of 1,000 tablets. Their delivery is very fast a...

Re: Raw chicken wings - okay?!
I'm sure that it is rare for dogs to get salmonella from raw poultry but campylobacter is a real risk, my dog had it and it took three courses of antibiotics to cure it. We had to exercise great caution when clearing up after her, handling her food bowls etc. as my vet warned us that it was very tra...

Re: Walks in North Yorkshire?
Rozfoz - that walk sounds brilliant - can you take dogs on the train? How far is the walk? I will check on a map. Thanks. Julie[/quote] You certainly can Julie, have taken ours on there many a time although you do have to pay for them, last time we went I think it was about £2 per dog, well worth it...

Re: Walks in North Yorkshire?
We try to visit North Yorks for a week every year with the dogs, we love it. Will you be visiting Heartbeat Country aka Goathland? There are some lovely walks around there, one of our favourites is following the steam railway path to Grosmont which is halfway (approx) between Goathland and Pickering...

Re: Ok, I am pushing the button....
Just done a quick quote for our Tibetan Terrier and they want £32.57 a month for the premier cover (this includes a 10% online discount) with a £90 excess  I'm assuming this is calculated on the basis of a healthy dog as they don't ask for any medical history, we pay £21.34 with Morethan with...

Re: Rehoming a doodle and pet insurance questions
We're with MoreThan, when I rehomed my doodle they didn't ask anything about her previous history. We had the same experience, they weren't interested in Alfie's history when we took out the insurance, it wasn't until we made the first claim that they wrote to us and said that they wanted to know a...

Re: Rehoming a doodle and pet insurance questions
I'm about to ring PetPlan to add Harvey to my policy - I haven't been told about any pre-existing conditions so i shall be saying there aren't any !!!! I will be interested to hear what Petplan say Liz, when we insured our 3 year old adopted TT with Morethan, they intially accepted the information ...

Re: Morethan Insurance
I think the trouble is, Carol, that insurers tend to try to attribute any other illnesses the dog is unfortunate enough to suffer in the future to any illness being treated....I can't remember what user name Julie has on here but she has had dreadful problems with Morethan doing precisely this and ...

Re: Morethan Insurance
Although his meds may not be costly atm, is there a chance that he will need any more costly treatment in the future. I have a simular situation with Daisy, but because there is a chance that she will need a hip op at some point, I can't change insurers because she wouldn't be covered. Thanks Bid I...
