Re: Puppy out and about and needing to wee

We brought both our doods home on someone's lap - sadly not mine, as I had to drive... :( But I put our Ianto in a car crate after a couple of days as I was desperate to collect a puppy play pen and had to drive to Sheffield (with no-one at home to look after him). It was quite large for him, but I ...

Re: First time off lead

Yay! Sometimes it's just a case of being confident that they will come back... if you're feeling uncertain, I think they pick up on it. Keep backing up the training, as they seem to drop in and out. Something I was told recently was to try scattering a few treats when they return to you, it's a rewa...

Re: New puppy blues

So pleased to hear this, Gilbs! A bad experience can knock your confidence, but you knew that you understood dogs... Little Barkley has been sent to heal your soul, and prove that you are an excellent doggy 'parent'! :D Lots of new adventures to look forward to...! I use Photobucket for photos (alth...

Re: Sleepiness and nipping

No probs, Dee!! We got our Iant at 7 weeks, and in hindsight I would agree with Bid, he needed that extra time with his mom (and grandma) to put him right... Plus, he needed me to know that he should have had lots more naps times - all new dood puppy families should be pointed in the directio...

Re: Aggression in 14 week old

44Whitehall, As I've said before, it is a brave decision to make, to rehome a doodle... but it was the best decision for you and your family - and for your dood - heart-wrenching as it was. Hopefully, when the time is right, you will find a doodle (or another breed of dog) that is the right fit for ...

Re: Emily still nipping

I agree with Bid and Suzi - I wouldn't use the spray (not saying that I haven't used the 'soaking' technique on the neighbour's cat, but that just ensured that it never came back... ) Hang in there, it won't be too long now. It's like the 'rattle bottle', it shocks them - but I don't like the...

Re: Sleepiness and nipping

Could you not have posted this in 2012, Dee???   You're right though, our Iant was an absolute terror, especially in the evening and I had no idea it was because he was over-tired. The new puppy had loads of naps built into his routine, and no shredded clothes, skin or nerves!! :D A...

Re: Emily still nipping

How is she doing now, Gillian? If our Ianto is anything to go by, it can take a long time.... but he is brilliant now, even though I used to be close to despair in the early days. I would continue with Time Outs - she doesn't have to be in her crate, just apart from the family - for a few minutes th...

Re: Vaccinations - Confused

What really annoys me, is that kennels insist on them having been vaccinated annually... As we have no-one to care for ours in extremis, we have to abide by their rules... :(

Re: East Midlands - Elvaston, Sunday 17th April, 2016

Just a quick update, for those not on Facebook... Our lovely little doodle friend, Luna, who was due to celebrate her first birthday with us tomorrow has been taken ill and won't be attending. The East Mids doodlers wish her well very soon, and will be arranging an extra meet up especially to celebr...
