Re: Max distance for a wlk

I find the opposite! There is no livestock in the fields, and no ground nesting birds on the heaths so we can walk wherever we want in the winter without bothering about pavements :D :D Yes know what you mean but in terms of us with us working etc the light tends to have gone out of the day by the ...

Re: Max distance for a wlk

As mentioned if he has a really long walk we would probably not do so much the following day but you can normally tell from how they are acting. The day after we did the 13 mile walk it was fairly obvious the following day that he wasnt that bothered about doing to much so just let him rest with a g...

Re: Max distance for a wlk

Agree about the inclination bit....Roker loves being out and about so is always raring to go. First 10\15mins he is hurtling about and from then on he walks along steadily stopping to investigate things now and then, getting ahead of us, falling behind before catching up again. I always say he does ...

Re: Max distance for a wlk

I suspect its not so much distance and how much exertion they will have to do plus how big they are. A long flat'ish walk is probably less hard work than a shorter one that is uphill etc. Also you may find the bigger doodles will find it harder work as well lugging their bigger frames aruond compare...

Re: Labradoodle not liking Springers

We have an issue with one Spaniel in particular but then do most of the houses around us as its a right royal pain in the backside. Owners kick it out into the garden a lot where it barks and howls so often others will join in including Roker. He has also bitten two of the dogs on the street includi...

Re: Night time barking

Roker has a tendency to have a bark at noises or security lights going on at night. Generally only two or three then he goes back to sleep, if it goes on a bit longer i pop down tell him to go back to bed which he does and all is well again. Its either him making us aware something is happening or, ...

Re: Collars

Thanks all. I may try the slip lead. She's getting better walking on the lead but still a bit 'all paw drive'. Early on when he pulled more the slip lead in the right place up behind his ears really helped...the problem was it would slip down his neck a lot so you were always having to pull it back...

Re: Collars

Rokers main collar is unfortunately from the Sunderland football club shop in relation to his name as well....poor dog! Prior to that he had his first one from Sainsburys which is still fine to this day and a red tartan one i got from eBay. Tend to alternate between all three after he's rolle...

Re: Grrrrrrr Fireworks

We've had a bit of a mixed firework spell. We've been staying at my in laws in Wingerworth the last few weeks as the building works continue at our house and we've been making sure he's had plenty of exercise so he's tired in the evenings. With the telly on the majority have barely bothered him and ...

Re: Typical Stout!

Regular occurrence for Roker as well....number of times we've gone for a walk somewhere prior to something like a pub lunch etc and ended up sat outside due to someone smelling like a fox or badger toilet! Best one was when we were out doing a fairly long walk near Monsal Head followed by tea at a p...

Re: Has everyone abandoned ship?

I still look on here on a fairly regular basis commenting where i feel i can add something. Sadly people find the likes of Facebook easier to use especially with photos and i've seen other forums go quiet due to it. I'm sure this place will carry on but it may just be a bit quieter.

This may just be my used a lot of forums and being skeptical of new users posting links to sites but this smacks very much of someone pushing their own product\website...i stand to be corrected!

Re: Any ideas what this is?

Cheers folks...some sort of slug\snail type thing was our thoughts but they'd not seen something similar plus they are very cautious when looking after Roker. Not usually the case that the bowl is left laying around either so will just be a one off. The bowl is one they have at their house for his b...

Re: Any ideas what this is?

I'm not 100% sure it's from roker at all if I'm honest and it could be nothing as you say with the bowl being out all day. The only thing was my ma and pa are quite keen gardeners and hadn't seen anything like it before in the garden.
