Re: labradoodle on Many Tears

It is quite shocking how many dogs there are being advertised as in need of new homes. Less than 18 months ago, we fell in love with Lottie, a dalmatian but we were unsuitable as she needed a secure garden without shared access (although rarely used) and in hindsight she might have been better livin...

Re: Blood Everywhere

Didn't know about the cornflour tip, many thanks! I have been advised to use saltwater to clean wounds so now I have step 1 & 2 so I'll be well prepared but finger crossed we have been lucky on the accident prone front lately... Your very lucky he coughed it up, Buster swallowed his sock and it took...

Re: Bruno - please stop growing!!!!

Been in your shoes lol! Rule No 1: Just think of him as 'vertically challenged' Rule No 2: Buy several paddlocks to fit all cupboards for the next 6 months Rule No 3: Become a convincing & accomplished liar by practising the following words in a mirror: 'Big? Is he really, we haven't really noticed....

Re: Puppy or Dog?

Strange as it may seem for Buster he stopped being a pup at 18 months when the recall and training all started to pay dividends. The first signs of mellowing seemed to be around 14/15 months but he's big and told large/giant breeds mature at 18 months/2 years. Occasionally I do slip up when praising...

Re: Can I ask a question??!! F1B's

This stuff makes me so mad! Part of the reason I don't really come on this forum.. How can you have other posts with people announcing breeding/puppies and everyone runs to congratulate them and then other posts by less known members and everyone flocks to tell them to stop?! What's the difference?...

Re: Can I ask a question??!! F1B's

I'm not completely against breeding but responsible breeding. I would only advise you to do what I myself would do we had decided not to castrate Buster. I think your starting point is: (1) Rigorously health test Lucy prior to contemplating allowing her to produce a litter. Hip & eye scoring on both...

Re: Insurance??!!

I thought so also, but can't be without insurance cover. Someone I know in the park has an 18 months minature pincher and has life cover for £50 a month. Don't know who she is with but I was under the impression the bigger the dog (size) the higher the cost of insurance, so who said size doesn't mat...

Now listen, there's no use complaining we 've been diddled just like by the banks but the only difference is all the reasons you've put forward weren't in small red print at the bottom of the contract when you got the doodle :D

Re: thanks, you've all played a part in giving Alfie a new start

Sounds to me you have been on a long journey, some of the behaviours you point to really echo as we felt with Buster we are the blind leading the blind and assessing whether he'd responded. Its evident from the way you write you love him tremendously and know what you mean 'no dog household', that d...

Re: eating grass !

So glad to hear we are not alone. Buster started and has continued, he has a good diet and we even give him cooked vegetables mixed with his normal meals but it just seems he likes his greens lol. I think mine is the latter from the link you posted, I wonder if he'll continue this behaviour when he'...

Re: Bruno's at the groomers now for his first trim

Bruno is only a puppy, I expect he was frightened. Don't take it to heart, some people just don't understand doodles  Wendy + Kizzie She's right you know. In your situation before, all the groomers except one 'do labradoodles', apparently 'its too much work for the money' was a common phrase...

Re: Have your say!!!

Oh I'm so glad I'm not alone then... Buster was a 'little S&^t' [mind the french] today by doing what could only be described as 'crafting'. Landlady & builder came over, what did he do on his way back to the house? Find the muddiest series of puddles in the park, ran like a racehorse through ...
