Re: Annual injections?????????

I always have had Dexter vaccinated from a puppy. I always would worry if I didn't its catch 22. But looking back I would now have had the 1st vaccinations and then a blood test to see if they needed the rest. I have read they can be bad for longterm health. We did everthing by the book and Dexter h...

Re: Please help us cope:((

Thank you, yes Dexter has had the drains out and his wound looks neat. He is still lethargic as expected but he hops around on the lead outside to go for a wet. I hate this disease, so unfair:( but we are going to take one quality day with him at a timex

Re: Please help us cope:((

Hi, vet rung up Christmas day morning and said Dexter is getting up and would be better at home! so we had him with us for christmas day. When we went to pick him up he heard my voice and started whining he needed to come home. Off to vets tomorrow to get drains out I think. Dexter is panting a bit ...

Thankyou everyone, Dexter has had his op and as far as I know went well:)) He is recovering at the vets and is wrapped up like a turkey in foil. He is eating small amounts and has his own cushion etc so is comfortable and spoilt. Fingers crossed we bring him home Boxing day that will be our Christma...

Re: Please help us cope:((

Yes, we are going to do what the other poster said they would do if it hadnt spread to lungs. Amputate and let him live as long as he is comfortable. Giving him an extra year or so with chemo might not help and could damage him internally.Ive fingers crossed he will pull through the op will keep you...

Re: Please help us cope:((

Thank you so much for your comments, The op will just remove the tumour and his pain. They said at diagnosis its 90% sure its already spread but wont show up yet on chest xra. They said chemo would give him maybe a year. Thats our dilemma what if could have longer and be okay on chemo or do we just ...

Re: Please help us cope:((

Thank you Bid your right, its how we will cope without him. Personally do you think we are doing the right thing not having chemo as well I have read it could potentially give him 1-2 years
extra but its weighing if its worth it for him....x

Please help us cope:((

I have some devastating news about Dexter, his limping was caused by a bone sarcoma and its more than likely spread:(( His lungs look clear but its an aggressive type. He is going in on Tuesday as we made the hard decision to amputate the leg with with the tumour to relive the pain and buy him some ...

Re: BEYOND angry!!... xmas tree!

Oh dear :(

I made this mistake too, Oh yes Dexter is really good he only
really eats socks/pants and soft toys. So far he has ripped open the bag of soiled hamster shavings all over the carpet and broken into a lush gift box under the tree after the polystyrene(sp) packing grrrr!!!:/x

Dexter is still limping!:( Soft tissue damage to shoulder was the diagnosis, metacam improved it but after light exercise he was limping on his front leg again. Back to vets, and they examined him and are going to look at xrays again.... Im not sure if I should get a second opinion... Our insurance ...

Re: shoulder pain/ limping:/

Hi, yes same here, its Dexter's front leg. Xrays showed nothing so Im thinking its a sprain or ligament tear. Im not keen on surgery tbh if the muscle can heal on its own. Dexter is flying about all over the place today and the limp has almost gone so im going to do very short lead walks for a month...
