Re: Is your Doodle friend or foe?

Living in a built up area, there are mostly 'on lead' dogs, until you get to the enclosed park, where you can let the dogs off. Now, Bruno is really friendly, is totally clueless to other dog's warning snarls or growls (thinks they are playing), will bowl up to ANY dog, loves a good bum sniff etc. I...

Re: Leaving him for the first time :(

yes, i completely understand. Bruno has been in kennels twice, and both times, I rang every day to ask how he was, if he'd been eating, who he was playing with, etc. He went with a home border for one night, but he didn't settle at all and the border told me that she wouldn't want him again as he wa...

Re: Such a gentle leader..

Same here with head collars. Now I couldn't be without one. He's fine on a flat collar and lead IF there weren't dogs, cats, birds, children, leaves, sticks, poo .... etc etc. BUT we live in a built up area, and for his safety, he HAS to be under control. I have tried training with treats, stopping,...

Re: So why did you get a doodle?

I was attracted to the breed to start with because of: Non shedding Obedient like a Labrador Clever like a poodle Hypo-allergenic      Did my research - Found that they often shed Are really naughty Often are too clever for their own good Not guaranteed to be non-allerg...

Re: Labradonkey

She does look fairly big, as a comparison, Bruno was about 20lbs (9kg) at around 4 months.
At 1 year, he was about 68lbs (31kg), so he did A LOT of growing.

Now at adult weight, he is a steady 37kg (81lbs) which is nearly 6 stone   and about 29" to his shoulders.

Re: cant cope update

Very sorry to read your posts. I can relate in a way. I suffer with OCD, depression, anxiety and panic attacks and have thought about booting Bruno straight out of the front door at times  Does your wife get help, mentally and chemically? I have had a lot of help, and until recently, have blame...

Re: Argh help! Allergic to Orijen??!

Yes, I was going to suggest the Nature's Menu. It's kind of like cat food, but the next best thing to raw and whenever I've given it, he's loved it. (Mind you, I could give him a mouldy sock and he'd eat it  ) Comes in vacuum packed cartons, one is enough for my boy, and are not all that expen...

Anyone in Cambs want to double date?

Hi, I'm really trying to improve on Bruno's 'enthusiam' for other dogs and running off, so was wondering if anyone knows of a dog walking place where I can test him out with like minded companions? He's NEVER attacked or growled at other dogs and hasn't an aggressive bone in his body (he's been pinn...

Re: Roma's first walks

They do stay really close as pups. Believe it or not, when Bruno was a pup, we used to take him to the beach and let him run in the sea, he'd always come back and didn't wander too far from us.

Re: Bags under the eyes!

I do think it's an age thing. Like kids, they get up early and expect you to do the same  Once they get to teenager years , they'll start sleeping in more and not wanting to budge when you get up!!! Bruno's nearly 3 and he sleeps until I'm out of my bed, regardless if the kids are up or ...

Re: Roma's first walks

Great to hear her first walk went okay. There will be loads of things that frighten her at the moment, but keep her focussed, loads of treats and praise, and she'll associate the big bad world with good things. Have you tried her off lead in a park yet? You'll be amazed at how close she'll stay to y...

Re: Doodle Coats

Many dogs in rescue have been raised around children, and will probably have been assessed with regards to younger ones. Also, if you get an adult, you will have no doubt about the allergic reaction? Just to balance my comment, I am allergic to cats, and the dogs with the finer hair, like you, and b...
