Re: Dooley's had another 'turn'

Phew I'm glad it's not addisons! If you really want to be certain it is epilepsy the royal veterinary college in Liverpool can do MRI and EEG scans, but it costs a bomb! It would rule out brain tumors at least. But witness statements can be just as effective. Epilepsy isn't so bad and it can be cont...

Re: Important Lesson to Learn!

 Oh yes, the green tripe kiss is a common "Eurgh Immi!" moment in this house too! Nearly as bad is the raw fish kiss. I was having a lie down on the sofa as I had a migraine a few days ago, and was treated to a big slurpy smelly kiss on the face after Immi had just finished munching on a whole ...

Oh dear Lulu  She sounds light a right little monkey! Perhaps she thinks you require some enrichment games ;)

Re: North West Doodle Meeting?

I'm afraid we won't be able to make it on the 17th. We have a wedding to attend down south that weekend (they probably wouldn't appreciate me not going, I'm the photographer!) But we'll pass the info on to the in-laws who Immi is staying with that weekend, they only live around the corner from there.

Re: Doodles & allergies

I'm sorry to hear of Gypsy's problems, I hope you can get it sorted soon. Immi has no skin allergies, but she is very sensitive to wheat and other cereals. It gives her diarrhoea and truly terrible flatulence!

I would love her to look for my keys and phone do you think that's possible?
Be warned, it may not be a good idea to teach her how to look for the phone, there are a good few cautionary tales of Wurly and mobiles!

Re: Puppy eats sticks, mud and chews stones

It sounds as if he's doing all the things a normal pup does, which is just they way they learn and explore the world. The best alternative to keeping him on the lead is to always be outside with him, and play games when he isn't toileting. Squeaky toys are fantastic for distracting them while they a...

Re: Which bones?

The large weight bearing bones are the ones to avoid - the upper leg bones. This is because of their density, as gnawing them can wear down dog teeth - damage which is irreparable. Knuckles, ribs and shin bones are ideal. Whether cooked or not you should always supervise a dog gnawing/eating bone.

Re: Where did Woofability go?

You hit the nail on the head there Cate. The key to training is consistency; something which appears to be lacking in some of the dogs in the care if woofability. Secondly and just as importantly, a happy and well cared for dog will respond to training better than an uncertain and lacking in confide...

Well wishes and gentle cuddles to Dooley. Hope you can get to the bottom of this soon and get him onto the appropriate treatment.

Re: Where did Woofability go?

Thankyou for posting 4winston, it's good to see a socialiser's account on here. It's really a shame that you won't get into discussion, as I believe it would really help to diffuse the tension. You have pointed out several of the areas of concern, poor hygiene, low training standards and most import...

Re: toddler and puppy

We got Immi at 9wks old when Dylan was 3yrs 4months and to begin with it was exactly as you describe, winding each other up and things getting out of hand, or lovely cuddles and curling up together and snoozing. It is a bit trial by fire, there will be accidents and toddlers toppling over and fur or...

Re: Bad Dog Bruno!!!!!!

You have my sympathy! I know exactly how you feel, Immi is a terror when she spots other dogs, small children and people with lovely clean clothes on, or catches an interesting scent! She's not so bad when walking with other dogs, but if I walk her alone I am often apologizing profusely or I just ke...

Re: No exercise after eating!!!!

Shut the doors and offer a favourite chew. Failing that you can always pop her lead on until she gets into the routine of relaxing after a meal. We're lucky in that Immi prefers to chill out after a meal.
