I have just googled this question can dogs have tea... and it would seem that it is not a good idea to give dogs caffeine. Its a shame as being a tea addict myself I totally understand why Dibzy would love it :?

http://www.oph-good-housekeeping.com/fo ... -dogs.html

I just saw this article which gives an idea of why it could be harmful.

Marley got hold of a can of red bull the other day  he only had a few swigs before OH got it off him but I'm sure he was more hyper than normal for a little while

Only just glanced at the list but it says dairy products are bad, what about all the things like cheese for high reward treats, natural yogurt for tums, cottage cheese etc I thought these were good :?

Annie loves tea as does the OH. SWhe has broken his most favourite mug today trying to get at the tea. He says it's her fault but actually it's his as he left the mug on a small stool at Annie height & over the stool went taking the precious mug with it

Now I find tea is bad for her as well, not good :( I had a cat that liked tea once, she was called B, she was lovely but sadly she strayed & I never found her again.

We used to give our previous dog tea now and then - not on a regular basis. I used to make half a mug of tea as usual then dilute it with another full mug of water. Because he loved it he would finish the lot which as he hardly drank at all if he felt under the weather was a good way of him taking fluid when it was necessary. I may be hung for saying this but caffeine is bad for us as well if taken in excess :!: I am not saying it is not more so for dogs but I have decided that once Archie is past the puppy stage the odd cup now and then is not going to do him major damage. Life would be pretty boring for me if I gave up all the things I'm not supposed to have in excess. (Well, lets say I do 'try' )

My old dad used to say "Rules are for the observance of fools and the guidance of 'wise' men". I always took this to mean that 'fools stupidly ignore rules but the wise are 'guided' by them.
Anybody else know this expression and it's meaning :?:

Needless to say Archie is not going to be denied the odd cuppa :!:

Chocolate is bad for me too! but it wont stop me having it! Is it not a little bit of what you fancy does you good. We have been told many times what we should/should not be eating and at the end of the day so long as we dont binge on anything no harm done. My parents have always given their dog a cup of T with their breaki their dog liked it with patti (cat food) on toast. Tynkerbell I agree with you wouldnt life be boring if we only ate what we should

I would take it to mean that the wise men use rules to keep the fools in check

I have never heard this expression before, but I took it to mean that only fools blindly follow the rules, while "wise" men use them as guidelines :?: Isn't English a great language? :D

All in moderation...and eyes open for any probs, that's my motto! Bella my cat loves spaghetti, and Fred my other cat loves dog treats. Izzie will eat anything I eat (fruit, veg, any Italian food, salad,) and my tropical fish get leftovers, and so far we are all thriving.
