First.. and last.. post

Post by ladybayalfie » 07 Nov 2012, 09:35

Hi,
Joined this forum a few weeks ago as we got a new puppy, 4 months old last weekend.
I think the forum's great - lots of good ideas and interesting stuff.

Sadly our beautiful little puppy died yesterday morning. He woke up fine but got more and more lethargic as the morning wore on. My wife took him to the vet but they couldn't save him and he died on the vet's table.

Turns out he had a small polyp in his throat which meant he had a thinner airway and then had a fragment of what would appear to be the wooden stick of a firework stuck inside. This had gone septic and we think he died from septic shock.

The family are devastated and can't believe how quickly he went from seeming a happy, cheeky little fellow in the morning.

It also taught us a lesson about the dangers of firework debris - the vet said they get several deaths each year just at that centre. Please check your gardens for the remnants of any neightbours spare rockets if you want to avoid such a tragic fate.

Oh my gosh, that is absolutely devastating news

I really hope you and your family can grieve together and remember the magical times your pup's short life gave you.

Such a tragic ending. I am very sorry for your loss.

God Bless

That is so so sad and such a shock for you all. But it sounds as though you have some great memories of life with a cute Labradoodle pup.
Take care

I'm so sorry :( . I know that in such a short time your little doodle will have won your hearts, and you must all be devastated.

Sleep tight little pup.

That is so sad. I suppose being so young they can take a turn for the worse very quickly.
The roads round us are littered with the remains of rockets but if it hadn't been a rocket it could have been a twig or anything else he could pick up.
