Hi,

We're looking for a goldendoodle pup but the most reputable breeders i have found are only breeding minatures/mediums and we want a standard. Can anyone give any recommendations/pointers regarding breeders? We are in the north and don't mind some travelling but not ridiculously far.
Did find one breeder not too far away and am on that waiting list but I am a bit spooked that they have not asked anything about us other than contact details, or is that something they would ask nearer the time?
There's a few litters listed on pets4homes but I am unsure how i can check if they're reputable, some seem ok, others not, don't know what to think but don't want to line the pockets of anyone in it for the wrong reasons. Daren't go and view any pups as it would be really really hard to walk away empty handed.
We're experienced dog owners but we have never paid this kind of money for a dog before, (they were all rescues or crossbreeds before the "designer" label was added) and that brings unscrupulous breeders into the equation which is something I've never had to think about before.
I am really hoping we can get a puppy in the next few months as it feels like we have a big dog-shaped hole in our family without one.

Hello

You could try donakell golden doodles near Aberdeen. They breed standard goldendoodles and I've met a couple of their dogs at agility training. They are lovely dogs.

They also have a Facebook page.

Good luck with your search!

Thank you Coco and Annie, I am sure I have looked at Donna Kell before and she only has miniature litters planned but have contacted her anyway to check. Its a fair bit further north than us (300+ miles) as we are in Yorkshire but I have heard good things about her.

Hi,
I have 2 labradoodles - one was sired by a goldendoodle from Jastra Goldendoodles - their website is
www.ukgoldendoodles.co.uk

I have also heard many excellent things about Cheshire Doodles,a lady called Joanne Clayton, Near Nantwich (info below from her Facebook page), she may be nearer for you to travel to.

I would prefer you contact me via my mobile 07977194716 as I am always out and about with the dogs but you can also use this contact page or my landline number which is 01948 665097 and I will get back to you as soon as possible. (Jo Clayton)

Good luck with your search.

When I was looking for our pup I liked the look of redrosepuppies.co.uk, they are in Lancashire.

There is a breeder just up the road from where I live: Menethorpe Goldendoodles. I know very little about them but might be worth a look.

Thanks Kobi&jazz I have already tried Jastra but they don't have any litters planned until next year and then only smaller doodles but i hadn't heard of Cheshire Doodles and they look promising except I think I might have just missed a litter so i'll give her a call tomorrow - thanks.

Thanks Katy M, redrose is new to me too so I have sent a message. I'm already considering Menethorpe but can't find much information about them, thank you anyway, very helpful.

Thank you all. I have found a lovely breeder, fairly close to us who has a brand new litter and managed to get on the list for a girl. I will pop back here to introduce the pup once we go to choose, we have an appointment already - I can't wait!

That's great news! I am also getting a Goldendoodle Pup. She will be ready for us to pick up at the end of May but we are going to visit her for the first time on Friday!

Brooks13 - that's great we will be able to compare notes when we get our new babies, ours will be ready to pick up at the very start of June. I've got another 3 and a bit weeks before we meet ours but I wouldn't be able to choose while they are all furry little sausages, much easier once they are up and about and causing mayhem!

We pick ours up on the 23rd, she'll be 10 weeks. it seems like a long time away doesn't it though? Not wishing life away but I hope it hurries up!
I am glad they are all reserved otherwise I would want them all! Post some pics when you've met him or her. I will post some tomorrow.

Brooks - You are so lucky not having that long to wait we pick ours up on the 6th June so that must be a couple of weeks after you and ours will be 8 weeks old then so about a month between the pups in age. We are getting a girl as well.

Every time I search this forum for something your posts come up, we must be both thinking about the same things, I suppose it keeps us occupied while we are impatient doodle-mums-to-be. I tend to overthink things so have every little detail going through my mind and am making shopping lists and researching everything. I have promised myself not to buy anything until we have met the pup but am enjoying window-shopping.

I'm really hoping for some decent weather so we can get on with puppy-proofing the garden. We got a bit lax with fence maintenance last year as our elderly dog wasn't capable of escaping during his last few months, bless him. Of course puppies can fit through much smaller gaps so we need to add boards or mesh at the bottom of the fences too. When we put up the fence I insisted on a "hedgehog gap" all along the bottom which was fine with an adult dog but we will have to block it up for the time being.

I'l definitely post a photo as soon as I have one and will look forward to seeing a photo of your new baby too.

patterpaws - we sound like the same person! Lists, reading, more lists, forum research. We too had an elderly dog who passed away in January. She was a corker. It's a learning curve going from an old dog to a pup. All the things that were fine are now not!

Puppy shopping starts tomorrow after we have met her. Luckily, a few things such as crates and car crates have been given to us by people who had them in the loft. Telling everyone you know about a puppy can really pay off! Somebody mentioned Wolfy Beds and they look really good but as somebody else, quite rightly, pointed out they wouldn't last long yet! At the moment I am looking at dog carriers for the socialisation before she can walk bit...

So great that you have found each other! Really nice to be at the same stage. As I said, Woolfy beds are fab( good as new still after 2+years) but for the 1st 6 months one of the plastic beds with a cosy blanket is a great 1st option :D
I had to laugh about crates, so many folk have them stashed in a shed, cos pups don't like em! You can give it a try without the outlay  Anny
