We paid £300 to a local breeder and Tress is worth every penny. Perhaps we are fortunate in Northern Ireland in that we tend not to go OTT over these things although for some other breeds it seems that may not always apply.

Our little one is £600

However our budget was £400 but i didn't find a breeder i was happy with and that i could see both parents so we've gone over our budget to get the right pup.

My parents have gone mad about this - they say that its a cross breed so should be alot less but we have certain things that mean that a doodle is the right kind of dog for us. (BTW - i'm 25 so not that young but my parents do try to control me!!!)

Parents......I know the feeling x

the breeder we have lined up is £700 - £800. I have seen costs from £500 - £1000 and you have to take so much into consideration, like if you plan to visit the puppy a number of times, the cost of petrol to and from depending how far away you live...etc etc

Its all about finding the right balance between breeder and cost for you isn't it. I admit it does seem steep but it has to be right doesn't it...

We paid £600 - he came from Somerset. Girls are usually a bit more (in his litter they were £650 I think).

Do you live with your parents then? I'm almost 25 and my boyfriends parents tried to put us off getting a dog because they obviously thought we were too irresponsible. Even though now they have a dog too and we were more prepared and more in the know.

We were very very lucky with Lex and only paid £160! we're weren't looking for a labradoodle and didn't have a set budget but then came across and advert for the litter and visited a few times. The litter was accidental, the female was on contraceptives and the lady owned both dogs. Both parents were in good health and the other littermates were too. We did a lot of research before deciding that a labradoodle would be right for us. I don't think the lady realised how much she could make from the puppies but she was more concerned that the puppies went to good homes. She held off selling them until after xmas when they could've been sold in Dec so they didn't end up as unwanted xmas gifts.

Hi Sandy - no don't live at home and haven't for 7 years!!!! My parents have always had rescue dogs and we would have but found rehoming centres very difficult and we needed a pup because of our house rabbit!

I think my parents worry too much about money (you would think that i spend loads all the time etc) and that i don't know how to look after something! I think they will change their minds once they met Bondi!

I paid £650 for my boy, although it was WAY over my budget. I went to see the breeder, it was her first time with a Doodle litter, but she has been breeding Labs and Spaniels for many years. The mother was a KC reg lab, and the family pet, and the father was a KC reg std poodle whom the breeder paid a stud fee for. I saw the dad's certificates and pics, and the reciept for the stud fee. The mum was still feeding the pups when I went for a first visit and was is a large private run with them, as the breeder had two other adult labs. Although I was dubious about having one because of the fact I didn't actually see the dad, :? but the way the breeder was with the pups and the affectionate nature of her three labs just won me over. I don't think it matters what you pay, it just matters what feeling you get when you go to see a litter. Bruno and his brothers obviously came from a loving and well cared for mum and home. Thats all I needed to know in the end. :D

I would feel sad for the dog and annoyed with myself and the breeder were your puppys parents hip scored and if so did you see the paper work? and most importantly was the labrador in the background hip scored under 15?
Have you told the breeder and have they had any probl;ems with other pups in the litter.?
Hope you puppy goes on to recover our friend had a golden retriever who had both hips replaced and went on to live to the good age of 15.
