I know how I felt when I first knew that Daisy had HD - terribly upset, and looking for someone to blame - that was my first reaction, and a very natural one. After a bit of time to consider, I realised that there isn't really anyone I can blame - not her breeder, and not myself, although it was tempting to blame both! It's just the way it is - unfair and sad, but just something that has to be dealt with.

£800 we paid. I think it was very good value as the breeder spent hours on the phone to us, let us visit several times and was very helpful. She is also very knowledgeable and the parents had hip scores and eye tests and pups had eye tests and vet checks.

I looked around a lot and £800 seemed average, especially for a puppy with health tested parents

We paid £1,300 for Barclay - he's a 50/50 Australian Labradoodle. I see from here that that breed is something of a controversial point due to the history. :?
However, i raised the history with our breeder when we were looking to reserve him and she told me that the history is not a reflection of many of the breeders of Aus Doods now breeding. Many - including our breeder take great care in ensuring the health and fitness of the dogs they are breeding from etc. They adhere to a strong code of ethics and take the dogs health very seriously indeed. This has been proved with our breeders absolute professionalism and caring approach to both Barclay and us as his new owners. I could not recommend her more and teh support she has given us before, now and into the future.

I think it is like anything - the bad practice unfortunately shadows the many very good practices. I think every breed of dog has bad breeders giving bad reputations - it is not solely labradoodles or Aus labradoodles. I am glad we did our research so fully before buying and didn't let the bad history of Aus doods rule out us getting Barclay :D

All this aside - as someone else said - if you love them and they bring you joy - does it matter - what is a lot of money to some - may not be to others and vice versa - its the end reward that matters :D

Hope this is taken in the good spirit it is posted in :D

I paid £500 for Roxie when she was 12 weeks and 6 days old. I wasn't originally going to go for a black one and wanted an 8 week old puppy, but her price was reduced from £650 due to being a bit older and she lived very near to my sister on the Dorset/Somerset border. I went to see her as there was also another younger litter there to view. Both litters were sired by a miniature poodle. Roxie's mum was black and the other one was chocolate. All available female pups in both litters were black. I just fell in love with Roxie - she was soooo cute. I saw both her parents and they were lovely - so friendly and the poodle was a right character!! I was given a booklet with copies of both pedigrees and the poodle's family tree. I also had papers with their hip scores on - the poodle's was 9 and the lab's was 12. The poodle had also had an eye text. Iwas also given 4 week's insurance and a puppy pack.

I was hoping to pay under £600 - I wanted an F1, so knew I wouldn't have to pay the high prices of an Australian labradoodle.

More than we intended to!
As another poster said, she's worth every penny though.
I have been really surprised at how bold people are about asking how much we paid for Daze.
How rude

Oh that's in interesting point. Wasn't sure if I should consider that rude or not. Feels like when people ask if your pregnancy was planned or not :)

Henry was £180, his sisters were £300. The boys were a lot cheaper cos they are labrasmoothies.

She is priceless to us though and we wouldn't change a thing about her :D

We piad £700 which we thought was reasonable considering how much some breeders charge.
Finding the right breeder was most important to us and we had set ourselves a budget of £850
