I'm looking for a harness for Barney so he can be in the boot - but I'm finding harnesses that clip into seatbelts? Am I missing something? How should I attach it in the boot?

I'd like to know the answer to this question too!

I have a seatbelt harness but in the boot I havent a seatbelt clip and Dexter is too big for a crate so he is atm just in the big boot with a dog guard but I'm worried he has too much space in an accident and need something to restrain him!

This may be a REALLY silly suggestion but if you have a boot guard what about attaching him to that somehow :?

Hi there
Also have the problem that Riley out grew his crate. So I fitted a dog guard (not one with the legs that take up space in the boot) and bought a metal /chain (he chewed through a non-metal one :D ) lead. Put the loop of the lead round the base of the the middle headrest (it comes out making fitting easy) and then used the lead to secure/clip him when he is in the boot. Works a treat! I would be reluctant to secure him to the actual guard as it is possible a strong dog (and Riley is) could pull it away from its mountings. Also in a car accident (god forbid), the guard may dislodge and if the boot pops open you have a loose dog on your hands!

I use a harness on the back seats, with a clip into the seat belt holders. I used to have Buddy in the boot but he doesnt travel so well and often gets travel sick, when he feels sick in the back he lies on the floor and pushes against the seats so hes locked in better and doesnt sway so doesnt get sick :)

Suggestion

I use a harness and a long lead and wrap the lead round the seat as I have split seats and clip the harness to the lead

Well we've got a step further by getting a harness from Halfords (wish us luck putting it on!! ) And have discovered that we have a couple of places to clip something in the boot of the car. We have something underneath the back seat headrest which is a big clip for something to do with a baby car seat... So we can attach a lead or something to that. Or there is another clip right near the door of the boot.

We think we can get a metre long clip or something similar to attach to his harness and one of those in the car so it's good news :) I might be tempted to use his lead and a caribina clip so I can just unhook him and lead him straight out.
