Daisy is going to her first "Fun dog to gun dog" training today! She has done a little bit of gun dog training so hopefully we won't look like complete plonkers, but please think of Daisy, as she turns up flying the flag for doodles, with her pink lead and fluffy retrieve toy, amongst all those spaniels with their sensible slip leads and green dummies
Good for you Daisy - I'm sure you'll be a star and a great ambassador for doodles. Who wants a slip lead and a green dummy anyway when you can have a pink lead and a fluffy toy. PS - what's a green dummy?? Hope you have a really enjoyable time

Lulu always wears her pink gingham bandana which co-ordinates with her pink sliplead and pink dummy We do have to wash everything when we get home though but a girls got to look her best. We ignore the strange looks from the black lab owners.

We're back, and Daisy was a true doodle! Did everything she was asked to, but with a touch of Daisy flair! It was really about assessing what we could do, and as Daisy leapt about greeting all the other dogs (all black labs - no spaniels!) the trainer anxiously asked me if she can do a retrieve and a down stay
We had taken the current wabbit, which is a ball on a rope covered in rabbit fur - this time in white for some reason. THe first retrieve Daisy did she found the wabbit and returned to me, but via a quick "look what I've got" detour infront of the other dogs . Then she had to do a retrieve in the undergrowth - after a failed find I had to explain to the trainer that Daisy doesn't like prickles so she moved the wabbit into bracken instead of brambles
THe last exercise was a water retrieve - Daisy was first to go, and we discovered that although she was keen to go into the water after the dummy, she wouldn't go more than a metre from the bank and waited for it to float towards her so she could catch hold of it and bring it back. Once out of the water she did the doodle triumphant trophy trot round the edge of the pond and stumbled into the stinky mud and came out black and smelly
All in all, it was fun, and Daisy achieved her aim of making everyone laugh so she enjoyed it too.

Yay, well done Daisy! What a clever girl, waiting for the Dummy to come to her Labs might make great gun dogs, but Doods have got it in them too, and you're always going to have more fun with a Doodle!
