Well after 2-3 months of toilet training Barney he's doing very well! So far happy to do it on a lot of places and textures.

On the "walk" there's a school and Barney walked along the edge onto a bit of grass (tiny, growing out from the other side of the fence if you know what I mean rather than designated) and stopped and urgently did a big, fast poo.

I know the best option will be to cross the road, or to get him to poo somewhere before we get to the school but it did make me think...

We spend so much time praising our young Doods for going to the toilet, is there a way, or is it right even, to yank them away or something??

When Barney did a huge, long, stinky wet poo in the middle of the street party I might have tried but there was no where to make an exit

I think if you start discouraging them to poo somewhere, the message they get will be that you don't like it when they poo, and they will start to hide to do it. Next thing you know you'll be finding hidden poos all over the house & garden

no advice - but i have a dandelion meadow

Has he got a routine yet with his business? We can now set the clock against Lara so don't usually get caught in difficult places anymore.

Maybe try a diary for a week and see if you can identify a pattern.

you could work on pooing /wee on command, say go poo or be quick when you see Barney starting to squat down.If he has a poo before the walk he might hang on awhile longer when your out.I would actually cross over,so pooing in that same area doesnt become a habit.
I dont know how I did it but Liz only poos of lead, which is great for towns etc
