Hi there ! I am happy to have become a Nan for the first time 8 weeks ago. Chester is quite a highly strung doodle and we tried to introduce him to the baby last week but it wasn't very successful. We put the baby down to his level and let him smell him but them he started barking which made me nervous so I took the babe away
Any suggestions on how this should be approached?
New baby in the house
Re: New baby in the house
I can understand your concerns......congratulations on becoming a Nan...welcome to the club
Whenever we introduced a new grandchild to our dogs we just made it a non event and let the dogs introduce themselves in their own time.
We would carry the baby around the house when we were doing anything but never made a formal introduction. We also left items with the baby's scent on around the house.....a bit like introducing another dog or puppy to the house
...hope this helps.

I agree. Don't make a thing of it. Carry on as if there is no baby in the house and remember to treat Chester the same
Congratulations. How lovely

Thanks everyone
Maybe we have made too much of an issue of it. The baby is coming round again on Saturday so maybe its time to relax a little bit and trust the doodles gentleness - well, within reason

Hi, this may help you and Chester.
Since baby not in the house all the time perhaps the suggestion on getting a sound recording is good idea too.

Also Dogs Trust has fact sheet, may say same as above, scroll down to see
