Oh Lindsey,
I can only imagine how you are feeling. I'm sure your consultant must have considered every option before the hysterectomy.
As you can read on here there are lots of us that have had numerous girly problems; myself included but luckily my surgery was not as drastic as yours.
Hopefully it will be the light at the end of the tunnel for you and things will improve quickly. I agree with other who have said 'do as you are told' post op and take it easy.
We will all be thinking of you later in the year.
PP
Carter sends hugs

Hi Lindsey

I had a hysterectomy when I was 38 and had ovaries, womb and cervix taken out as there were problems in all areas. It is a big op and you MUST really look after yourself in the early weeks which will secure a good recovery - no lifting or pulling but lots of gentle walking and the exercises your physio gives you.
I was put on HRT immediately and asked for chemically based HRT as opposed to the hormone obtained from animals but to be honest I tried over several months and types of HRT and the one that suits me the best is Premarin and I feel fabulous !! (I don; t like how it;s sourced but I felt I had tried really hard with everything else and this worked the best)
I have energy , good skin - flexibility sleep well and no sweats.
You are clearly not 100% or you wouldn't need this op so look forward to feeling fabulous and promise me you will arrange for family and friends to do all you lifting stretching etc for a few weeks until your tummy heals.
pm me if I can be of any help
Kathy

Sorry for my late responses to the last few messages, pixies mum, pp, karenmog and mistydog - bless you all for your messages. Sounds like the HRT is luck of the drawer and a case of trial and error. I plan on getting myself at my most healthiest between now and then. Not hugely overweight but a stone off will make me feel better. Starting slimming world once dave comes back from his travels and then will continue to rely on my dog walking for excercise. Got date confirmed for Friday 14th December - a little close to Christmas but dave gets annual leave for 2 weeks from the 21st so good timing really.

Thanks again everyone for your good wishes and support x

Oooh, didn't see this before, good luck Lindsey. Funnily enough just went and had scans myself and because they were so worried about an operation on me they did a biopsy while I was awake and just got the results back that everything is clear, so I am MIGHTY relieved and now a little bit of what you are going through. I shall be checking up in December to see how you are. XXX Lola sends a kiss to you and Alfie as well.

Awww thank you pollydoodle and liz for your messages. Liz- thank god your results came back clear, I bet that was a big 'phew' from you. X

I am sure I will on here more than ever in December/January as I have to be good for 6-8 weeks so iPad could be always attached to my right hand!!

In honesty though that does worry me..... My poor husband is going to be left to housework, cooking, running after Charlie and dog walking on his own - oh and work full time! I am incredibly house proud so I am trying to prepare myself to ignore the chaos that will happen around the house during that time and refrain from giving him 'nag pie!!!!' lol x

Can you get a cleaner in for a couple of months? I'm not saying your husband isn't capable but it could take some of the stress away? My friend has one for £16 a week (2 hours) - best money she spends apparently!

Glad you have your dates through so at least you can put a plan of action through - so nice Dave has 2 weeks off to help take care of you. :)

Pixes mum,I used Premarin for many years and was terrified when I came of it (6years ago),Ive been ok but I still miss it now.

Lindsey I had a full Hysterectomy at 37,it changed my life around, for the better.First of all dont worry, all your pains will be gone all your problems sorted.I had both Ovaries and some bowel out as well.
On a pain level it wasnt to bad and I felt really well just a couple of weeks after.I found back and leg pains also ended.I can honestly say this op was the best thing Ive ever had.
I stayed on HRT for 20 years,I was so well on it.
My sister had an Hysterectomy last year and was home in just a couple of days, the advances in how they now do this op are incredible. She has a tiny scar thats all.Again she was so well almost immediately.

Good luck, dont be afraid just look forward to your new life afterwards.xx

Lindsey, when I had a total knee replacement 5years ago,I opted to have an epidural rather than anesthetic,it was fantastic, felt no pain, awake all through it and straight back in the ward for teatime.(just incase they offer it to you) x
