Thanks all for your good wishes (greatly appreciated)
After taking him in this morning I collected him again this afternoon with the tumor still on his face. :(
They couldn't operate today because when they clipped his face they found a small area of skin around the tumor has wet dermatitis.
Our vet says that if they proceeded there was a likelihood of it spreading into his system so he's going to have to treat this first.
We have antibiotics and antii nflammatories and they will see him again on Friday with a view to operating next Monday.
I didn't sleep a wink last night for fear of what they might find once they operated, and to know that the tumor is still there just fills me with dread .
Looks like a long week ahead

That's rotten Linny, you get all hyped up ready and then a delay.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery from the dermatitis and positive vibes for Roscoe's op next week.

How frustrating but great that the vet is being careful. Can't take any chances.
Fingers crossed that it clears quickly and Roscoe can go ahead on Monday.

Positive vibes

Poor Roscoe, such a pity they couldn't operate as planned, it makes it a long time to worry. Hope you can spend some special time with him over the next few days. The dermatitis should clear up better with the fur shaved off.
