It probably depends on how much you want to pay and what type of coat your doodle has. There was a thread by Katie Rourke on this forum not long ago about grooming which covered the topic of clippers. As 'Archie' is a very dense fleece coated doodle and I had no experience of clippers or clipping at all I took her advice and purchased the heineger cordless clippers and wahl professional combs. I have been extremely pleased with them. They glide through the fur beautifully. My first attempt turned out very well although it took me some hours

as I had never done it before. They are rather expensive but very lightweight in comparison to some and when you consider how much it costs to have a doodle clipped would only take about 5 visits and they would have paid for themselves
