Mapmydogwalk app
Has anyone else used this app for the iPhone? I think they have it for android phones too but not sure. It maps your walk and calculates the distance that you have covered (obviously not how far the dog has gone which could easily be doubled due to the bouncing, lolloping and fetching that they do). There is a way of sharing the walks with others that you know (not really tried it as I don't know anyone else who would use it) and it would be great to see where other people walk their dogs, It also calculates the calories used although I would take the number with a pinch of salt or better still a large bit of cake

Re: Mapmydogwalk app
I used it - really good only I can't set it the right time and also if you don't forget to save it properly it only pauses like this morning I did 4 hours walk (I didn't)
I haven't really looked into it properly just use it!

Re: Mapmydogwalk app
There is no phone signal in most of the places I walk
(which is actually a bit of a worry since I do like to wander off the beaten track).

I really liked it, i did wonder if we would keep a signal but it worked a treat. As suspected my son loved it. I know my friend will be most interested as we often wondered how far we walked.
Thanks for mentioning it. Think i may need to keep walking for a few more hours to walk off the two creme eggs i scoffed earlier

Re: Mapmydogwalk app
Looks good, I've downloaded it but don't do facebook and wasn't keen on putting my email in in case they send me junk emails- has any one had any problems from putting in their details? xxx
Re: Mapmydogwalk app
I use an app called ViewRanger (on Android but I'm sure that it will be on Apple too). It has basic maps installed and you can plan a walk (or download someone else's) on their website and then download it onto your phone. When out for a walk you can follow your progress on screen. It records distance and time taken etc.
It is probably very similar to Mapmydogwalk. Might be worth a look for anyone looking for an alternative.

Re: Mapmydogwalk app
I've had it a few weeks now and it hasn't sent me any emails. It seems to be a spin off from a fitness type app that they have just named to encourage a different audience - when you look at your account from a laptop I think you go to a slightly different named program from memory.
