I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss in such terrible circumstances and my heart goes out to you for the pain you are feeling.
Every one of the dogs I've lost over many years has their own special place in my heart and memories and I wouldn't have been without any of them however painful their loss was at the time.
Nothing ever takes the place of the ones I have loved, but all dogs are individuals and each new one that I have been lucky enough to have join me has helped to ease the pain and in their own unique way fill that awful dog shaped emptiness in my life and home.
You need time to grieve for Huber, but don't feel you're being disloyal to him when you feel ready to bring another dog into your life because like every great dog, he would have wanted his humans to be as happy as you so obviously made him.
