Goodbye Old friend

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to our sanctuary cat "Ghost"

Ghost was a feral cat who has lived at the sanctuary for the past 16 years.
We met when he was around two years old so we think he was in his eighteenth or nineteenth year....good innings for a feral. :)
He decided to be my friend after a year of feeding him and since that time he has been a wonderful companion joining me in my daily chores around the stables and fields
In winter he would keep warm at night by curling up on the back of William one of the sanctuary long stay ponies. or during the day he could be found enjoying the heat from the muck heap.
(you can always trust a cat to find the warmest places  )

He was" Lord of the manor" and a wonderful boy and I will miss his company soooo much.
Goodbye old friend ....till we meet again. xxxxx

Sorry to hear your news Linny, but what a great innings! Ghost was certainly a lucky feral to find such a welcoming home and friend :D

RIP Ghost

So sorry Linny - it's a special kind of person who gets to be the friend of a feral cat!

It's so sad to have to say goodbye, he sounds a real character. Somehow with cats it takes a very long time to stop expecting to see them around so the loss takes a goo while to heal. But he had a good life, and was lucky to find you. Did you ever get a photo of him snoozing on the pony?

I do have a photo of him on Wills back Claire but they are still on the old PC , I haven't had time to move them across.
Last winter because of his age and the really adverse weather we brought him into the house and he settled in straight away.
He had the most peculier meow and our African grey Fred soon began to mimic him so although Ghost is gone we can still hear him.... courtesy of Fred and it's strangely quite comforting :)

Linny,
Sorry to read your sad news of your dear pal, Ghost.
He was obviously a very clever fellow, adopting the best family he could find.
Bless him........

linny,
So sorry to hear the sad news about Ghost. We lost our cat Molly in August 2010, still miss her. Cats have theit own special ways, that sometimes only their owners may be aware of. He was you friend, always will be. x
