Wisbech Multi gen mini labradoodle born 04/11

Post by Jessiedoodle » 26 Feb 2012, 08:18

Hi,

I'm trying to find siblings from the same litter as jess, as I'm not convinced the breeder told the truth.

We were told she was Multi gen mini labradoodle, mum and dad were both labradoodle. We only met mum who had 3 legs (one never grew because of a horse accident when she was a puppy) and the mums name was "kayleigh" but mum wasn't with the pups when we saw them, she was conviently out walking in the rain so then wasn't aloud in so we never saw mum with the puppies.

Our jess is a medium dog weighing 17kg at 10 months old, and stats around 19" to the shoulder, but she hasn't displayed any labradoodle traits, and does not look at all labradoodle. After trailing through endless photos of cross breed I think perhaps her mum was labradoodle but her i think her dad was collie x lab.

I know there was at least one sibling a boy puppy, but him and jess were the last 2 in the litter. They were advertised at half price of £250 for the boy and we paid £350 for jess.

The breeder was in Broadend area of Wisbech, and kept horses. I have tried contacting her but to no avail.

If by any slim chance this sounds familiar let me know cos I'd love to know whether her siblings are more labradoodle like!

This is our jess

Hi jessiedoodle

I think you are right, from the picture I would be surprised if she was multi gen doodle (although they do come in All shapes and sizes). She looks more lab then anything to me, and the white Fur at the front does suggest collie. She looks a lovely dog and I hope you get to the bottom of this mystery. Have you tried visiting the breeder? Might be worth a try.

The breeder said there was parti colour toy poodle in both sides of the grandparents which is where the white comes from, the dog shown to us as her mum was def labradoodle like, with a shaggy coat, and we were told she'd grow up to look like mum but she looks nothing like her! But I don't get why she would lie? I guess I could just go round to the breeders house, but I'm not one for confrontation. However, for future reference, if anything were to be wrong with her, it'd be nice to know what breed she is as all breeds carry there own health issues.

Love her to bits now, and wouldn't change her for the world, but it's annoying that she isn't what we looked for, wanted or paid for!

It is such a shame you were mis-informed about how she would turn out. Unfortunately, with all labradoodles, you never quite know what you are going to get. Lola's coat is still changing and she is also 10months old! Some doodles do stay very labrador looking although i think it is rare for a multi generation to look like that. Saying all that, Jess is very beautiful :D

All doodles are different :D , you could as you say, pop in & see the breeder take Jessie with you, and say you wanted to show her off, so she could see how she’s doing :D . Then you could always ask the questions that have been puzzling you :? . I think Jessie looks like doodle, would love to see more photo’s. :D Hope you get your answers, but if not she’s still a gorgeous dood.

How old is she, do you know when she was born? We live 15m from Wisbech, I remember when we were looking for a doodle pup there was an advert for some pups there, but I didn't follow it up because they looked like they were out in a shed and we wanted house bred.

Wisbech is regarded as a rough place, with some dodgy people in the area, that might just be local rivalry of course

If you live in the area, do you fancy meeting for a walk some time?

Hiya, she was home bred, I took advice here and poped in to see her. She said dad was a 6 generation labradoodle, and the line had been bred for straight flat coat, mum was a 2 gen flat coat labradoodle, and that's why jess's coat resembles that of a flat coat retriever. Dad wasn't around but she said I could pop back another time and she would make sure he was home. She also has another litter, and a gorgeous cream and white boy that I now REALLY want, just have to convince the other half!!!! I'm in Peterborough so about 40 mins from Wisbech, do you ever come up this way?

Unusual to breed for flat, people usually want curly, but they might be breeding to get some more intelligence into a working line I suppose.

We don't often go in your direction for walks, but no reason why we shouldn't if there is anywhere good to take them. Will have to consult the maps!

Hi, Could your breeder have been a lady called Lizzie from Broadend Road East? She lived in a very messy house with three or four grey/white labradoodles? I may be able to help you with her number. Jess looks like a doodle to me. :)

It is an awful thing to say but you don't buy anything from Wisbech. It is a bit of a local joke. Freddie came from a farm, saw the stable, emmaculately clean, Mum could get in and out and his Dad was a well known stud locally. We paid £250 and he was an impulse buy as we needed a dog to dirty the house! She does look a super girl and they are all so different in coat and personality.

I know the particular breeder (name is actually Heather) and can confirm that they aren't house reared :/ they definitely don't look typical labradoodle types, but I know the Labrador side is definitely just Labrador, but there may be spaniel somewhere in there further down the line. I would not recommend buying from this breeder, puppies are not socialised, wormed or deflead, and only have contact with a few people before going to new homes. Don't want to be nasty about it, but I feel people ought to be warned. Not sure if she still does, but used to have/ sell some litters further south in St. Albans/ Hemel Hempstead area .

Hi, Jess is beautiful. I love the lab. face. As with colouring even my F1 has different shades of cream and gold all over her and one of her F1b's is apricot with a white bib and white toes (his dad was a mini poodle) so could be normal colouring for Jess as mini poodle's often carry the parti. gene.
Jess' coat is gorgeous to, I like the more shaggy loose coats - everyone preference in coats is different. A lot tend to like tight curly for the reason it's less likely to shed / allergy friendly or just personal preference. :D

Hi, Yes the breeders name is Heather, I did buy a puppy from her, here is a picture of Bella. Her coat was in really bad condition and she suffered from scaly, dry skin and was incredibly thin but with a few baths and a diet of good food her coat is now fantastic. She has the most fantastic nature and we feel really lucky to have such a wonderful dog. She was sold as a phantom labradoodle, however, SO many people, even the vet and lady who recently clipped her have asked if she has a German Shepherd Parent! She is still only slightly larger than a Westie, even at 24 weeks so I feel that she wouldn't be so small if she did have German Shepherd in her. Your thoughts please? I did have concerns about the breeder when visiting her house but I have to say I have been in touch since bringing Bella home and she has been great and we do have the most wonderful dog. https://www.dropbox.com/lightbox/home/P ... %20(2).jpg

Sorry, not sure how to put these photos on!
