All about Dogs - Newbury

Post by Pauline » 07 Apr 2014, 21:53

Anyone going to All about Dogs at Newbury on Saturday?
We're going as Dexter & Colin like to take part in the Dash n Splash.
Dexter has made it to the finals on the last couple of times - he loves it!
Colin does too but he isn't quite such an accomplished jumper!!!

I want to go but I live in Liverpool and the drive is 3hrs 11 minutes, would I be mad? Hubby is off friday afternoon, till tuesday, I could find a travel lodge.
Is it big thing and worth the drive?
Any ideas welcome x

Jay 128,anything you do with your dog is not considered 'mad' :D
Nonetheless fyi All about Dogs shows are held in a few other places in the country.
Guessing Lincoln is a little closer to you but not sure what other doodles are going to that one

That is such a shame. We live just down the road from the Newbury Showground, where All about Dogs is held, and we will be away, so once again we cannot go. It would have been so nice to meet up with some Doodle owners. Anyway, I hope that you all have a good time.

Who was there today?
We saw a few doodles.
Dexter won his competition in the K9 Aqua competition with a jump of 14ft 4ins - he has jumper further but as most didn't want to jump he was far in the lead! :D

Fozzie managed a Dash, a screech to a halt, and a flop into the pool! Second go he managed 4ft and came 2nd in his heat. At least by his 3rd go he was excited about it and went up the steps without a problem! First time he went, OH had to carry him up the steps (he doesn't really like steps!!)

There's one at Newark Showground on April 26th and 27th. It would be ideal to take our new puppy but he won't be allowed on the ground. Not sure how long we could carry him for without him needing the toilet.

I know you can get puppy slings bwhich will help with the carrying. I carried Florence on a little walk before she was allowed out and was nearly dead by the time we got home - she was heavier than I thought!!. It would be a way to get the new puppy used to lots of different stuff but the going to the toilet would be a problem.

We went today. Stout managed a 3ft 4inch belly flop. There were some very long jumps in his heat.

I spent a lot of time chatting to food suppliers, which was a lot more helpful than expected :D
