Camping with your doodle.

Post by Rachelhodgkins » 09 Jan 2015, 15:22

Lottie came with us last year on 3 camping trips and was good as gold even if we did have quite a bit of rain. Looking to book a few camping holidays this year also.

Now we always go camping at Thistledown farm in glous. It's rural massive space between tents, camp fires and no cars allowed on the tent pitch areas which is fab especially when I have young children 3 and 6.

This year would like to try out a few other places so anyone with any good recommendations. We usually just like to stay on site go for strolls and just play and enjoy being outdoors. We also like it to be Eco friendly and get back to basics so no electric hook up etc

We love the camping and caravan club site in Keswick. It is quite a large site and it has separate fields for hook up and tent camping but it is right on the banks of Derwent Water. The dogs went in there for a swim everyday and I joined them too. Very convenient for all the normal Lake District areas and very dog friendly.

We took Scooby to the Caravan Club site at Freshwater East in West Wales for her first trip in the van. Very quiet and pleasant with a lovely beach only a short walk away which is very dog friendly. Scooby does not like water!!!! We would throw the ball to the water's edge and she would wait for the wave to go out before dashing to get the ball. Score the next wave came in!!,

We do a lot of caravanning with our doods, to which we find is great. Have you tried ukcampsites.co.uk you can put in a location there and then read reviews what people have written. One good site we have been to is the New Forest (Homsley) in Hampshire, Great for dogs and children.
Also Seaveiw International caravan and camping Park in Cornwall. Lovely well kept site again good for children and dogs. Has a lovely little beach
just down the road from the site, Hope you find these ideas of some use to you.
