Hi
Willow today had her final check up following her spaying
All good
The vet has now recommended I change her food to one for neutered dogs
She currently has mainly Orijen (puppy large breed) as well as some wet
food
I have looked but this brand does not have neutered range
What are your views???
Should I switch or just ignore the vets recommendation??
Sometimes I wonder if it's all about purchasing their in house brand of Royal canine!

Food post neutering
Re: Food post neutering
I agree with you - some vets do tend to push the food they sell. There is no evidence to suggest they need a different food after neutering, but you may need to watch their weight. Not necessarily because they are neutered, but because we tend to get them neutered around the time when they stop growing, so the amount of food they need will naturally lessen as their growth slows down. Orijen is an excellent food so if it were me I would stick with it, but maybe think about switching to the adult version when coming up to a year.

Debby you hit the nail on the head. Follow your instinct it is always right.
Makes me mad with vets and things like this. We go to a vet almost totally vunerable as we are after the very best for our dogs and the vet is the supposed expert.

Thank you Bid and Pollydoodle for your replies
I will keep her on Orijen and switch her to the adult range when she is 1
