Looking for a mate in Sussex/Surrey area
We live in Horsham area and we have a lovely 11month old F2 standard labradoodle. He is official registered as champagne in colour and is 31kg. He has a beautiful nature and we would love advise on how to breed him as we would be very interested in having the pick of the litter.

Hi there. The first thing you need to do is check that his breeder is OK with you using him for breeding - some doodles are on a no-breed contract. Ideally you need to research the background of his parents - check their health tests and that they haven't produce pups with hereditary health problems. Then you need to get the health checks done on your boy. Hip and elbow scores are done by your vet doing x-rays under either sedation or GA and sending them off to the BVA to be scored. They have to be at least a year old before that can be done. Then there are eye tests - there are 2 of these - the BVA one and prcd/PRA - again I think your vet can advise on them. Those are the minimum tests but I believe there are others. After all that you can search for a mate with all the health tests.
If it were me I would want to spend a lot of times chatting with an experienced breeder before going ahead with any of it so I knew just what was involved.
