Alabama Rot - reminder
Tis the season... Alabama Rot appears to be more prevalent around this time of year. Read of a case this month in Cornwall and thought there was one in Bucks (cannot find it now, cases are confirmed usually once dog has died).
Be more aware and look out for signs if you walk in woods. The cause is still unknown and time is of the essence if your dog is to survive.

Warwickshire
If you click on this link and put postcode in it shows all areas where it has been confirmed, there are a lot around, but not much on the news about it. I only found out from a friend that it was near us about a week ago.

We have an unconfirmed case near us too - just 1/2 mile away in local woods (Lickey Hills, Worcestershire) We're avoiding for now just in case.

Thanks for bumping up and raising awareness again.
When I last checked the map there were hardly any outbreaks in Devon...now there are several. ..it would be helpful if more details of the areas walked were available though.

We've had a couple of cases near us in Dorset, one where I walked Murphy every day

Re: Alabama Rot - reminder
Since my last post there have been outbreaks in Newton Abbot..... sadly this includes two deaths. ...information has been confirmed by a local vet
:
I am only walking at the beach where the threats are usually visible (jellyfish & palm oil)

Yiks , not good ! Like to think the cold snap shall knock things back but not even sure that makes a difference to this Alabama Rot , whatever it is.
Re: Alabama Rot - reminder
I think the current thinking is that whatever causes it , is found in water so with any luck this spell of cold weather will give us a bit of a break.
I was chatting to our local farmer about it, and he has an interesting theory - more to do with TB but we agreed that it could apply to AR as well. He said that 'his' badgers don't have TB and he puts it down to the cleaner chalk hills. A little further north of us TB is rife, but that is an altogether damper clay and sand area. An interesting theory!
We had a scare last week when I heard of a young Viszla living a mile away who had a foot problem and then died just a few days later - I assumed AR, but it turned out the poor little thing had tetanus! She had her leg amputated and was doing well, but succumbed to lockjaw in the night
She was only three!
