Is Tesco insurance Ok?

My current pet insurance for cars and my previous dog is with Tesco. I have found them to be fine (my gorgeous Jess cost a fortune in her latter months). Hedley my labradoodle puppy will be coming with 4 weeks insurance with Petplan. I'm happy to continue with Tesco for Hedley unless anyone has any advice for a different company?
Thank you :)

My concern would be that some companies are ceasing to offer pet insurance, which can leave owners with a problem if they are claiming for an on-going condition, so for that reason I would pick a company that specialises in pet insurance.

From my own and my dad's experience, they are reasonably good at paying out but the price goes up every year. Pet plan don't seem to increase by so much. We have swapped to pet plan because the increases where so high even though we never claimed. My dad has three dogs and they (tescos) have always paid out well he says and he has claimed an awful lot.
It's a pain to swap as anything you have taken them to the vets for may not be covered by a new insurer.
I have taken her for a scratched eye, a object in her ear and a dicky tummy. I then had a job to get pet plan to insure her eyes, ears, and stomach even though they were not diseases or on going. They have agreed however so it is worth arguing your case. It's better to get it right than swap. Xx

I was with Tesco and they paid out £3,000 when Dexter was diagnosed with bone cancer and they made a direct payment to the vet too, I would recommend Tesco or Petplan.

I had Lola insured with Halifax when she was little - a good insurer, one would have thought. However, when they realised how much they were paying out in bills their underwriter withdrew from pet insurance and loads of people were left in the horrible position of having pets with ongoing conditions which no insurer would take n and having to pay for things like diabetes, heart medicine, all sorts.

It was outrageous, but it seems nothing could be done. They reneged on their duty.

So I also put my voice to the 'insure with a specialist pet insurer' advice.

You never know what will happen in the future. And i wouldn't trust Tesco further than I could throw them, which is not at all.

Hi
I went on price comparison site to look at all the different options and prices for my pup Willow
I decided on Petprotect Dog extra which gives good coverage for life paying out up to £6000 per policy year
Insurance is a bit of a minefield so good luck
