Lets do a pet insurance review!
Lets do a pet insurance review!
Following my thread the other day about pet insurance, i thought i would be a good idea to do a little question & ansswer thread to help new people and those who are going to change their pet insurance.
So could you answer the questions below!
1. Who are you with?
2. How long have you been with them?
3. Age & gender of your doodle
4. Cover level (budget, silver and gold / premier cover)
5. Have you claimed with them?
6. If so, how long was it being settled?
7. Where you happy?
Feel free to add other questions!
I'm hoping this will help people with their search!

2. Since 14th April!
3. Our doodle is almost 4 and is a female miniature (long story - I will explain at some point those who know me!

4. I took out premium level cover, £7k per year per illness, paying £185pa
5. No claim yet
6. n/a
7. The policy is very clear and the cover allows you to claim £7k per year for the same illness, which is not the norm, you usually only get a set amount per illness and then no more towards that illness even after 12 months. I'm happy with the service and info so far. They're part of John Lewis, and seem very professional indeed.
It's stopped me worrying! Even though we're now eating beans! LoL!

Lucy,
I'm confused, I thought you owned, or were owned by, Louie? Not a female miniature. Have I missed a post somewhere?

Re: Lets do a pet insurance review!
1. Who are you with? Petplan
2. How long have you been with them? 6 years
3. Age & gender of your doodle Daisy, female, 4, and Poppy , female, 3
4. Cover level (budget, silver and gold / premier cover) budget
5. Have you claimed with them?Yes - many times for Daisy
6. If so, how long was it being settled? about 6 weeks
7. Where you happy? Yes and no. It is very straightforward and our vets know what to do. I just take the form to the vets together with any receipts for treatment/meds I have got elsewhere, the vets fill in the form and send it off.
Where I have not been happy is that PP changed their policy regarding hydrotherapy after I had started claiming. THey no longer pay for Daisy to swim, but I can't switch to another provider as Daisy now has an existing condition. I think that to be fair they should have continued to pay for those already claiming. As it is I am stuck!

Just wanted to add that costwise, Poppy as a 3 year old crossbreed costs around £15 a month, and Barney as a 12 year old labrador pedigree was costing £28 a month.

5. Yes, claim for £2,200 when she was 1 year old, hospitalized for tests with chronic vomiting.
6. payment received within 3 weeks.
7. was very happy with helpfulness of staff and prompt payment. Not so happy with premium for Paddy (x lab 11 years old), like Bid's Barney, premiums increased now to £28 per month.
He's only ever been to the vet once in his whole life, bless him. One claim for vet bill £95, excess £60. paid out £35. Excessive premiums now due to him being an old timer they tell me.
