I have just come out of hospital after a hysterectomy. Rosie has been acting very strange since I have been home. Obviously things are very difficult and I am struggling to get up, walk around etc (only been 3 days) but she just will not come near me. When I stand up she is watching me out of the corner of her eye and earlier today she laid outside the bathroom door just watching me.

My mum is coming to stay on Monday for a while to help with the dogs- the children are grown up.  so I'm hoping she may be more like herself by then.

I have to say that even after this short time I am so looking forward to taking them for a walk- get life back to normal.

Poor you :( . I hope your recovery time is as short as it can be!

I think they do sense things - perhaps she is aware that you are feeling delicate and is beng careful around you do you think?

Poor you :( , glad your Mum’s coming to help you out. My sister had a hysterectomy last year and we had to keep telling her “No heavy lifting”, So do take care of your self it’s a big operation to get over.

As for the Rosie I’m sure she know your ill and wary of accidently hurting you :D . Take Care.

Hey yeah you know I definitely do think dogs know when you are ill. I think they pick up on your energy levels. I had stomach flu last weekend and just wanted to sleep the day after. The girls were really good and didn't bother me like they normally do, but just came and laid in the bedroom quietly...bless!!!

Karen, every day you,ll get a little bit better. The time will pass and you will be out walking again soon.xx

As for Rosie, she knows that somethings different about you, after my new knee Lizzie promoted herself to my carer,I really needed help to get on/off the toilet and Lizzie would come and sit at the side of me then Ide hold onto her collar and she,d pull me up.
Even now on these slippy days she walks carefully at the side of me,I know shes keeping an eye on me(not slipping),she likes to help me walk up steep hills, she walks up front and I hold onto the lead, while she takes the strain.

Ask Rosie for help, she might surprise you with her understanding of your needs. Look after yourself. Fxx

they definitely know. i've been through a couple of things and Lottie has definitely known that something was wrong/different.
