Crossing posting from DnP. He looks the dead spit of my Jack and I'm sure he's a Doodle. Does anyone know of someone looking for a lovely but terrified Doodle boy? He's in Durham. 'Do have a look at this photo of this boy needing a home Am I imagining it or is he possibly a scared doodle? ' http://www.strayaid.co.uk/index.php?opt ... &Itemid=21

No you are right - the poor boy looks absolutely terrified His whole body stance shows fear - tail between his legs, his eyes - I could cry. I hope someone is giving him the hug he deserves. I do hope he finds a loving home - looks like he hasn't had much luck so far.

I've rang Strayaid in Durham and spoke to a girl called Vicky who was really nice and helpful. Unfortunately Alfie is as nervous as he looks in his photo. He's a stray and been with them for approx 1 week. Vicky says he's a lovely dog but lacking in confidence and nervous around people, although he's getting better. It's a case of waiting for him to come to you as opposed to going up to him to stroke. Needs to be encouraged to walk and is ok with other dogs.
If interested Vicky advised, as they all do, of visiting with children and pets to see how all got on. One lady has shown interest already but said they would ring back.
I don't know if the Labradoodle Trust want to get involved but I would certainly act as transport for Alfie.

It's so sad to see this dog so traumatized by life at such a young age I hope someone from the Doodle forums can offer him a loving home, at least then he will be with people who understand Doods. Is there anyone out there that can help this boy?? £100 pounds donation will be money well spent

Thanks for doing that Norwood. I've just phoned too and spoken to Vicky and need to phone back to speak to John, the Manager. We could perhaps offer to foster him and help him regain his bounce, which would be a much better option for him than being in a kennel. We've got two Doodles and no children, so got the time and patience for him to come out of his shell. Often unhappy dogs can settle better with other dogs than with humans. We'll see what they say later this afternoon. As we are in South Devon, it will certainly need a good transport chain from Durham

Mrs A - I don't know whether I'm just having an emotional day, but your post has made me have a little cry, a good little cry.
It often breaks my heart to see so many dogs in need, and Alfie is no exception, I don't even want to begin to imagine what happened to him to make him so scared. But what made me cry is your kindness and drive to so desperately want to help him. I so often wish I could help (like I'm sure so many others on here do too) but I can't, which means I often go to sleep wondering about all the dogs that need our help.
I just wanted to say that I truly hope they let you foster him, and I admire you for offering up your time, energy, home and love.
Fingers crossed for the poor little man.
Gemma
