HI everyone,

Mollie has just turned 7 months and today has started her 1st season.

Got a few questions, if anyone can help me out. :?: :?:

Anyone got any tips as to what I can put Mollie in to save my carpets :?: :?:

How long will the season last and can I still take her out walking :?: :?:

Any general advice will be great, thank you.

I've got dogs but we always had bitches at home (including a Mollie) and their seasons varied in length and heaviness. Our setters was very light but our cavaliers very heavy, bichon inbetween. My mother tended to keep them in the kitchen, was very careful they didn't escape and kept them on a lead walking them. Then had them spayed after their first season.
We had the odd amorous male sitting patiently outside the gate but not very often.
Hope this helps.
She looks so sweet in her photo.

Ahh, it only seems the other day that Mollie was a tiny puppy :) Dee has just started a thread on this very subject and there's lots of advice there-

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14147

Lots of people here use pants for their girls in season but I never found it necessary; depends on how good they are at keeping themselves clean and your floor coverings...We have always had mostly wooden floors which is easier....

Is Mollie fed up ? Briefly the season will last about three weeks, maybe 4 and Mollie will be at her most fertile between 8-15 days into the season (this varies from dog to dog). At this point she may go looking for love but in any case should only be lead walked and kept away from other dogs for the duration. Some dogs will try to escape their garden.....

Thank you for your replies, I have popped to the vets as they sell "Pooch Pants". Basically dog knickers 8) 8)

Mollie at the moment is quite happy to wear them, but as she settles later for the eveing I though I would remove them and let her lye on a towel.

At the moment Katherine, she seems ok, but it was funny yesterday my Mum looked after her and she said she was really off and even growled at my Mum. She never growls at any one, so this was a real shock.
I have now had a quick read of the thread you sent me, thank you.

I was actually surprised at how young Mollie is to have her 1st season, is this quite normal :?: :?:

Thanks again for your replies and wish me luck for my weeks ahead :) :)

I'm sure you will manage splendidly, Suzanne :) Mollie is young but within the normal age range to have her first season. If you are thinking of having her spayed (usually about 3 months after a season) the vet will examine her to make sure her vulva is fully developed. Our OES started early and we waited until her second season to spay her on the advice of our vet.
