Hi new member here, thanks for letting me join.

I have a F1 Labradoodle his name is Ben and he is just coming up to 6 months. He is a joy and the hard work is definitely worth it.

At the moment I'm working on recall so any advice would be much appreciated

Welcome to the forum Bensmum .
Yes labradoodles are hard work, frustrating at times BUT they are such lovely dogs that all the hard work you put in will be re-paid 10 times over.
Have you had a look through the Training board?? There are a number of replies to past post's which I'm sure you will find useful.
If you get chance do post us some pics of Ben - we love photo's on this forum .

Hi Bensmum and Ben and welcome to you both. The main thing about recall is to make yourself, or what you have on offer, the most exciting 'must have' thing in your dog's eyes so that when you call, he comes scampering over to see what you are doing/what you are offering. Well that's the theory anyway lol!! I think the most important thing to remember is to NOT put them on a lead every time you call them. Call them to you -huge fuss/reward - then send them off again to have a play. Repeat several times before catching them to put a lead on. No fun loving dog will return once it learns that you simply want to catch it.
And yes, some pictures when you can please.

Here is my baby boy.

He is 21.65kg
Born on the 30th August 2019

Third dog I have owned and 1st from a breeder as my previous two pups were rescued so yea it was very different getting a baby. Usually I had to build confidence now I'm teaching the dangers as our Ben thinks everything, everyone and all dogs is for fun and for him to have fun and games with...

1st dog I had for 15 years
2nd dog 12 years
Lost my last dog September 2017 and swore never again but here I am on another journey with our Ben.

Awwww what a gorjuss boy he is. He looks right at home in that arm chair

Thanks you kobi&jazz and I think he just might be big also and truthfully I can't believe just how much he has grown since we got him at 8 weeks old in October.

I will definitely keep in touch and so happy that I have found a place for advice on Labradoodles tbh

I hope I have Ben sorted health wise as we have our vets pet plan at the vets that covers all vaccinations, flea and worming treatment and health checks every 6 months. We also have pet insurance with John Lewis.

I do find Ben to be very demanding at times but a short 20 minutes walk seems to settle him just can't wait till he is older then we can go lots of long walks but as he is just a baby despite his size he can only have 3 short walks a day, well that is what I have been advised but what I will say thank goodness he has a back garden to play in.

I also find he needs plenty of toys that keep him busy, needless to say his favourite is kong wobble filled with either treats or his kibble and sometimes it my favourite also as I get my cuppa in peace

They do grow so quickly .
Think this is the toy you are referring to? - have you tried snuffle mats? They are good at keeping food orientated doods quiet

That's the one and I will certainly get the snuffle mat for Ben.

At the moment he is loving his chewroot, split antlers, and his Yakers chew but I suspect his teeth are bothering him. I did buy doggie teething gel and it made no difference so what I tend to do now is fill his kong classic with carrot, some treats then seal it with dog peanut butter and put it in the freezer this seems to give him some relief.
